Take an inside look at the Fashiontoast x Dannijo photoshoot with blogger Rumi Neely! Featuring her new jewelry line launching exclusively on Tobi.

Who she is:  Born in San Fransisco and now lives in San Diego, Rumi Neely, personal style blogger behind Fashion Toast, is one of the pioneers in making fashion blogging a career. Spawned from her blog has come a modelling contract with US fashion giant Forever 21, a jewellery collection with Dannijo and a capsule wardrobe collection with RVCA, whose previous collaborators have included supermodel Erin Wasson. Her signature is effortless SoCal style – loose, draped lines, an excess of heavy metal jewllery – rings and necklaces are a favourite – combined with unexpected designer accents: Chloé platform boots, Dolce and Gabbana wedges or an Alexander Wang Diego bag. The secret behind her huge popularity is her penchant for accessible fashion - Topshop, Zara, H&M and thrifted/vintage pieces feature heavily, making a clear case for fashion being for everyone, not just for those who can afford it.

On her style: As with all Girls, Rumi is a pro at mixing high and low items.  She frequenly finds the most amazing treasures at Forever 21 and H&M.   Rumi describes her style as "One part grunge, one part Parisian influence, then rolled around in the San Diego sand and dipped into a giant jewelry box. I love pieces that are both simple and fresh, and I have what I think is bordering on a fetish for ankle boots...you'll probably find me in shorts and my Chloé Doc Marten wedges walking to a bar by the beach to get lobster tacos."  We can't get enough of her edgy style (think platform black heals, studded flats), made softer by adding delicate jewelry.  Rumi also experiments with clothes more than most people.

My favorite brands are Right now I am feverishly obsessing over everything Balmain, Isabel Marant, and Givenchy. I waver between a mussed-up bohemian thing and a zipper, strap, and fringe-heavy harder look and these designers serve those purposes pretty much perfectly. Every time I see a photo of those Balmain heeled moccasin boots I die a little thinking about how I'll never own them. Other loves include Balenciaga, Olivier Theyskens, Alexander Wang, and I'm in the process of figuring out how to obtain Australian designer Rich's leather fringe dress. And Ruthie Davis makes the best Lucite detail heels that could make bring the most drab of ensembles to life immediately.

But you'll never see me wearing: what’s in my friend’s closet. Totally not my style! But with MessyCloset I can find people that share my style. Just as much as I give advice I can get it from anyone too. Although it’s nice to hear from whom I can relate with even if I don’t know them. Sometimes it’s better that way.
